Donna J Stalaboin was born on the Quonset Point Naval Base in North Kingstown, RI. In between her father’s stints at Marine bases in Virginia and North Carolina, Rhode Island was home. Eventually her family settled in Connecticut, where she met and married her husband. For the past 38 years she and her family have made the beautiful White Mountains of New Hampshire their home.
Donna has been sewing since the age of 9 years making Barbie clothes by hand while sitting at her mother’s treadle machine. The day she was finally allowed to use that coveted machine, she found freedom from hand sewing and has never looked back!
No longer making doll clothes, she has turned her creative energies towards work she loves, designing original small art quilts. Donna’s art incorporates a variety of techniques such as photography, painting, silk screening, and transfers. Never intimidated to explore how various mediums and techniques will play together, she finds this experimentation and including the results into her art exciting and fun.
Donna is self-taught, but when the opportunity arises, enjoys taking classes to learn about new products and exciting techniques.
